At The Living Well, we are trained in specific acupuncture techniques to help support you through pregnancy, birth preparation, and postpartum.

 

Acupuncture has been used for generations and will help you with:

 

1. Nausea: Morning sickness can strike at any part of the day and can be a real interference to a women’s day-to-day life. Acupuncture has been proven to help reduce nausea and vomiting when pregnant.

 

2. Sleep Disturbances: We all know when pregnant, sleeping can be more difficult because of physical constraints and other changes. Then postpartum happens and there is another human to take care of, which can reduce sleep. Acupuncture helps improve sleep quality and reduce insomnia to make you feel more rested.

3. Aches & Pains: It is no surprise that pregnancy puts a lot of pressure on the body. Acupuncture is most well known for helping those nagging aches and pains, which is especially true during pregnancy when the body is constantly changing or postpartum when mom is hunching over to breastfeed or hold a baby!

4. Regulates the Nervous System: Pregnancy and postpartum puts a huge load on the body metabolically and is constantly impacting the nervous system. Acupuncture reduces cortisol, improves the adaptability of your nervous system, and is shown to decrease depression and anxiety.

5. Birth Preparation: There are specific points and techniques to help encourage a smooth and healthy labor. Acupuncture for birth preparation increases in the third trimester and can help breech babies find optimal position.
